Types of Work Gloves

There are various types of syringes. They may be disposable or reusable. Their application varies greatly depending on the shape of the syringe tip and the position of the syringe tube. In this article, we explain the different types of syringe tips. We hope this information serves as a reference when selecting a syringe.

What is a syringe?

A syringe is a tube with a nozzle used for injecting and ejecting liquids.

Syringes can be made of glass or resin. Resin syringes are  the most commonly used disposable syringes today. Syringe doses range from extremely small volumes of 0.25 ml or 1 ml for immunizations and insulin injections to large volumes of up to 1,000 ml.

Types of Syringe Tips

There are several types of syringe tips. The features of different types of syringe tips are described below.

Luer Slip (or Slip Tip)
ルアースリップ式(ルアーチップ式)

This type of nozzle makes it easy to push a needle to the end of the tip. It is easy to attach and detach, and is best suited when the injection needle is frequently replaced. Both glass and plastic materials are available.

Luer-lock
ルアーロック式

This type of syringe has a lock function on the syringe tip. It is suitable for cases where you want to connect the syringe needle securely. The structure for fixing is clearly defined by ISO standards.

Metal Luer-lock

ルアーメタル式

This is a nozzle tip made of metal and is characterized by its high strength.

Enema
浣腸式

This type of syringe is used for enema and bladder cleansing. The tip is slightly rounded for insertion into the body.

Catheter tip
カテーテルチップ型

The tip of a catheter syringe is thicker than the tip of an ordinary syringe. It differs in size as well. This device’s mechanism is designed to prevent fluid administration errors.

Type of cylinder tip position (middle or side mouth)

The syringe tip or nozzle may be found in the center of the syringe or on the side.

Syringe tip at the center
中口

Micro and small volume syringes (0.25 ml to 5 ml) and medium volume syringes (10 ml) often have the syringe tip in the center.

Syringe tip on the side
横口

This type of syringe is used for large-volume syringes (10 ml to 1,000 ml) and is not found in small-volume syringes. The displaced tip of the tube allows the syringe to be used at a shallow angle when drawing blood. It also facilitates air venting.

Summary

Syringe tips can be classified into several types, such as luer slip, luer lock, luer metal, enema, catheter and so on. In addition, depending on the application and fluid capacity, the syringe tip may be found on the center or on the side of the syringe. Each product differs greatly in usability and performance, so you can use the syringe that is appropriate for your purpose.
